The EuroGP Song Contest

Song Contest

EuroGP 2004 held a Song Contest, organized by the Biocomputing and Developmental Systems Group at the University of Limerick, Ireland. It was a live Interactive Evolutionary Algorithm Experiment where participants were given 45 minutes to evolve a
pleasing musical piece. Below is the initial call for participation for the competition.

The EuroGP Song Contest
-----------------------

Conference participants are invited to take part in the inaugral EuroGP song contest. In this exciting and glamorous event, competitors will try to evolve pleasing musical pieces through the use of an Interactive Evolutionary Algorithm. The contest will run on the second day of the conference, after the conference and workshop sessions have finished. Attractive prizes will be awarded to the winners.

An Interactive Evolutionary Algorithm will be provided to participants, each of whom will have 45 minutes to evolve a pleasing musical piece. Once time is up, each participant will save his or her best song and the best of all songs will be voted on by the rest of the contestants

The contest is actually a thinly disguised attempt to use the GP community to produce data for a project running in the University of Limerick to use GP to automatically identify subjective fitness functions in interactive evolution. A paper [insert details here] will be presented at EuroGP the day before the contest. All participants will be acknowledged in the final report on this work.
